Boosting Your Bakery's Sales with Seasonal Displays

Posted on

Birthdays and weddings might be your bakery's bread and butter, but there are ways to capitalize off of the various holidays and seasons all year round. If you have flexible space in your bakery display, consider creating a seasonal display section. This area can be used to advertise unique items that customers might be interested in during holidays or at certain times of the year. Here are some ideas you can use for your seasonal display setup.

Grilling Season Display

While you might not sell hot dogs and burgers, that doesn't mean you can't get in on the fun of grilling season. Set up your display case with brioche hamburger and hot dog buns to appeal to foodies in your neighborhood. You can also offer economy bags of potato rolls or poppy seed buns to encourage people to stock up for their next barbecue. Of course, it doesn't have to just be about the buns. Consider creating some picnic-friendly desserts for display in this case, such as a traditional apple pie or colorful gelatin mold.

Patriotic Display

Your patriotic display case can be rotated into use a few times each year, including Independence Day, Veteran's Day, and even election day. For this display, think red, white and blue along with traditional American desserts. Cupcakes festooned with sprinkles and frosting, fruit tarts adorned with strawberries and blueberries, and mini pies are all great options for this counter. If you have a talented pastry chef, consider baking cookies that can be decorated with American flags or even miniature versions of the White House.

Thanksgiving Trimming Display

Your Thanksgiving display can help boost your sales while also taking some of the holiday prep work off of your customers' hands. You'll want to plan this display in advance, as you may find that some items sell out every day. Pumpkin pies and sweet potato pies are must-haves, but don't forget the savory side of things as well. Brioche rolls and handmade stuffing mix can also be big sellers for people who want homemade flavors at Thanksgiving dinner but might not have a lot of time to cook. As you plan this display case, take into account how much inventory you'll need to replace. Banking pies and rolls might become a task that needs to be performed multiple times per day.

Look for decorations you can use to make your seasonal display case look festive, and don't be afraid to get creative. Have a Secretary's Day display with cookies shaped like typewriters and books, or go all-in for Teacher Appreciation Day with caramel apples, ornate cupcakes, and other sweet treats. The possibilities for holidays and celebrations throughout the year are endless.
